Common Core’s ELA Maps have been in use by teachers for over two years. During this time, the non-profit organization has established an unparalleled reputation for creating high-quality, low-cost curriculum tools based on the Common Core State Standards. Our Common Core Curriculum Maps, released in August 2010, were the first new, CCSS-based curriculum tools to come out after the standards were finalized. Written by teachers for teachers, our ELA Maps are detailed guides for creating CCSS-aligned lessons that delve deeply into key core knowledge content and utilize the best and most important literary and informational texts. These carefully crafted maps include all of the new standards.
The Maps are comprised of 76 units covering Kindergarten through 12th grade, and include:
- focus standards selected directly from the CCSS
- essential questions
- student objectives
- suggested activities and assessments
- sample lessons
- terminology lists
- a pacing guide for K-2 reading instruction
- 13-step process for a senior research paper
- 179 arts activities
- library of digital resources
- CCSS-based art or music activities in all units
- glossary of more than 375 ELA terms
By joining the Common Core Mapping Project community, not only will you gain access to an up-to-date, CCSS-based, and content-rich curriculum tool, you will also become a vital member of a rapidly growing and interactive network of passionate educators devoted to using high-quality content to implement the CCSS. To date, our network consists of over 18,400 educators who hail from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and several countries overseas. Our members enhance the quality of the maps by regularly contributing their comments and feedback. In this way, Common Core has created the first CCSS-based resource that directly incorporates teacher input.
At Common Core, we recognize that implementing a new curriculum demands a significant investment of time and resources. So, in addition to providing access to the Maps for only $25, we’ve also worked with our partners to offer our members:
- 30% off (plus free shipping) the extended print edition of our maps published by Jossey-Bass. The print edition of the Maps includes 63 additional sample lesson plans.
- Significant discounts on “Suggested Works” listed in our Maps.
Through a partnership with Schoolwide, Inc., it is also possible for members to custom order the texts recommended in the Maps. Each unit Map contains a link to an order form tailored to that unit. Educators can select only the books they want—and in the quantity they want—and receive a deep discount on their order.
